Dr Stefano Ciavatta

Area of Experise: Data Assimilation

Summary of experience | Stefano was awarded a PhD from the University of Venice (Italy) with a dissertation on modelling high frequency data collected by real time monitoring systems in coastal areas, using data assimilation methods (Extended Kalman filter). His current research activity focuses on the assimilation of satellite data with coupled physical-biogeochemical models of shelf-seas and on the analysis of time series of biogeochemical data monitored in coastal areas.
A further area of his experience is the sensitivity/uncertainty analysis of marine ecosystem models.

Role in OPEC | Stefano’s work will focus on the set-up, application and evaluation of the data assimilation system for the North East Atlantic.
