George Triantafyllou | HCMR

Area of Expertise: Model Developer

Summary of experience | George is a Research Director in the Institute of Oceanography of the HCMR. He has a Ph.D. in Oceanography, after his M.Sc. in Oceanography and B.Sc. in Mathematics. Since 1995 he has worked as a Researcher at IMBC, now HCMR, conducting research in Marine Dynamics and Ecosystem Modelling, giving lectures on Dynamics and Modelling of Marine Ecosystems at the University of Crete, and participating in national and EU research projects. His research interests include the development and application of numerical mathematical models and management tools, data analysis, data assimilation, nonlinear dynamics, nonlinear prediction, climate dynamics, ecosystem dynamics. He has 36 publications in peer-reviewed journals and 20 publications in books and scientific series.

Role in OPEC | George will be leading the work of WP4 looking at assessing the predictability of seasonal forecast and he will also be the scientist in charge for HCMRs contribution to the project.
